MRI of CR Company Background
Founded in 1976, MRI Cedar Rapids was one of two Management Recruiters franchises Fritz Weber had the option to choose between. If he had chosen differently, the landscape of the Cedar Rapids business community would be very different, but Fritz chose Iowa over Minnesota, and purchased 3 of 4 business divisions that Management Recruiters International had available here. Fritz had been a management executive with Uniroyal, and he was looking to build his own successful business. He and his wife, Wanda, (who served as MRI Cedar Rapid’s CFO) began building a dedicated team that would “Offer Intelligent Staffing Solutions for the new world of work.” The Webers were always focused on building a solid team. Their personal devotion to developing their team’s professional skills, and supporting them in new ideas and strategies were key to building a successful business, not just in the market they were currently in, but throughout the uncertain future their organization would be growing into.
Back in the later 70s, employer paid searches were pretty much unheard of. Management Recruiters International adopted the concept of having employers pay search fees as opposed to candidates paying a search firm to find them a job. The idea that recruiters were used for secretarial positions and little else was prevalent at this time. MRI Cedar Rapids was part of the group of MRI franchises that influenced their client partners to utilize executive level placement, changing the way recruitment was viewed across disciplines and geographies. As the team grew, Fritz and Wanda welcomed dedicated professionals coming from diverse backgrounds, earning prestigious awards year over year.
Just a few years after they opened the office, Cindy Linus joined the team. Cindy later became the owner of the office, but that’s another post for another time. Fritz and Wanda built a strong foundation for Management Recruiters of Cedar Rapids; embracing change, initiating lasting relationships, and developing models for success that would be followed for years to come. Check out my next post for more information about their innovative team, and more nostalgia about our great company!
